mock.project:3-akron_bridge

ITEM: Third in a series of proposed designs meant to enhance the character of a city and/or location.

DEMAND: Private speculation on the design / re-design of a bridge over a interstate highway. It is speculated that the original adornment was used to create an icon / beacon / placemaker for the city of Akron.

Two schemes have been designed that may better achieve the goal of letting passerby’s notice and remember that they are in the great city of Akron. The basic design principals of the original bridge have been adhered to; concrete slab and guard wall, steel structural support, pedestrian safety fencing, etc…

mock.project:2-one.point.five

ITEM: Second in a series of proposed designs meant to enhance the character of a city and/or location.

DEMAND: Private investigation of a small scale wine/martini bar.  The design of the space isolates public/private spaces in all dimensions of the space.  In the “private” areas, wood is wrapped on the walls and ceiling, and a bright tile pattern is utilized on the floor, bringing a comfortable feel to those areas.  In the “public” areas, more durable materials are utilized, such as; concrete, drywall and a dark tile.  All of the furniture is custom designed for a cohesive feel to the space.

The name of the establishment, One.Point.Five, is based on the concept of the bar.  Each table or chair is alloted 1 1/2 hours per seating.  This time allotment will in turn give customers the proper amount of time to relax and eat, but still make it possible for large quantities of customers to be served in an evening.  Small plates are served to ensure quick preperation time for food.  Reservations are not taken, but as a twist, diners will be able to “buy” minutes from patrons that may still be waiting to be seated.  Also, slower nights will feature “clock’s off” in which there will be no time limit alloted.
